Use the COMMODITIES function in LSEG Workspace by typing commodities in the search bar. From the overview page, you can select specific areas such as energy, metals or agriculture under the Homepage drop-down menu.
- Datastream (see access details), a module of LSEG Workspace, covers additional commodities.
Global Financial Data offers downloadable financial data series. Select Commodities from the Filter by Series Category drop-down. Series types include commodity data, commodity prices, commodity indices, futures contracts.
S&P Capital IQ Pro includes Commodity Profiles related to extracted commodities that include information about pricing, mining economics, exploration budgets, news and more.
Explore government and IGO tools:
- UNCTADstat (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) provides free market commodity prices (including indices) starting from 1960. Select UNCTADstat > Data Centre Commodity Prices.
- The World Bank publishes data and analyses of Commodity Markets and Global Economic Prospects.
- USGS (United States Geological Survey) Commodity Statistics and Information reports on nonfuel mineral commodities.
- The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Economic, Statistics and Market Information System offers agricultural commodity market data and outlooks.
Use Bloomberg (see access details):
- Type BMAP and hit the GO key to plot mines and mining sites (for gold, coal,metals, etc.) as points on a map.
- Type CRR and hit the GO key to rank commodity indexes.
In Mergent Archives, select CRB Mergent Commodity Yearbook, with data starting from 1939.
Global Commodities: Trade, Exploration & Cultural Exchange provides a history of certain commodities.
