For information about a country's sovereign debt, use Bloomberg, available at Lippincott Library and in Huntsman Hall.
- Enter SOVM
for the sovereign debt monitor or DEBT for the sovereign debt function (covers fewer countries) and press <GO>. From an individual bond issue, enter HDS for holders.
- Enter CSDR.
- Go to Research & Ratings, then Sovereign and Supranational.
- Trading Economics - click on country name to retrieve historical ratings
- Economist Intelligence Unit's sovereign ratings
For credit ratings for individual sovereign bonds, go to WRDS and use these two databases:
- S&P Credit Ratings (click on Compustat - Capital IQ, then on Capital IQ)
- Mergent FISD
Note: WRDS requires a Wharton username and password.
