For information about a country's sovereign debt, use Bloomberg (see access details).

  • Enter SOVM for the sovereign debt monitor or DEBT for the sovereign debt function (covers fewer countries) and press <GO>.
  • From an individual bond issue, enter HDS for holders.

Moodys.com includes ratings and assessment reports and sovereign debt ratings. Go to Ratings & Assessments->Sovereigns and Supranationals.

For sovereign debt ratings use:

  • Blooomberg - Enter CSDR
  • FitchConnect - Search for a country and select Sovereigns/Regions from the Entities options.
  • Trading Economics - click on country name to retrieve historical ratings

For credit ratings for individual sovereign bonds, go to WRDS (see access details) and use these two databases:

  • S&P Credit Ratings (click on Compustat - Capital IQ, then on Capital IQ)
  • Mergent FISD
