Q. How do I find articles for my evidence synthesis review?
Answer
Your research focus will drive the resources used for article retrieval. Bibliographic databases such as PubMed, Embase, SCOPUS, CINAHL, and Web of Science are often searched for evidence synthesis in healthcare, however you should choose the databases that collect relevant articles in your field of study (e.g. PsycINFO for psychology)
Terms or phrases can be identified from a controlled vocabulary system within a particular database (e.g., MeSH, Emtree, other thesaurus), from preliminary search results in a relevant database, and from the search strategies of other systematic reviews on the topic.
See our library guide on conducting a literature search for evidence synthesis for more information or contact your subject librarian for recommended resources in your field.
