Q. Can I borrow books from other libraries?

Answer

Interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing, as always, is dependent on partner libraries being open and staffed to process requests. At this time the BorrowDirect and EZBorrow programs have resumed service.

The physical pickup location for all materials borrowed from other libraries is Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. We can also mail these materials to members of the Penn community who have registered for Books by Mail. Because many of our partner libraries are facing restrictions in staffing and physical access to buildings where collections are housed, turnaround times will vary.

If we cannot provide the materials you need through interlibrary loan, please contact our subject librarians to review your options or to request a purchase for our collections.

If you currently have items from partner institutions in your possession, please place them in the book return bin next to the entrance to the Goldstein Undergraduate Study Center on the ground floor of Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center (see map). Or email us at vpcircdk@pobox.upenn.edu to make arrangements to return them by mail. All fines and late fees incurred due to COVID-19 restrictions will be waived.
