How do I find classical Jewish texts, such as the Bible, the Talmud, or the Responsa?

Answer

There are a number of ways to find online texts:

  1. Select E-Books as a resource type in E-Resources, and then choose your area of interest, or type in keywords.
  2. You can also search for specific texts, such as "Bible" or "Mishnah" by placing the title (or part of it) in the Library's FindIt tool.
  3. The Mechon Mamre site offers the Hebrew Bible, and the 1910 JPS English translation, Targum Onkelos to the Pentateuch, the Babylonian (Bavli) and Jerusalem (Yerushalmi), including Mishnah and Tosefta, and Maimonides' Mishneh Torah, online and searchable. While not critical editions, they are useful for quick consultation and searches, and are Unicode compliant.
