How do I access films from the Criterion Collection?

Answer

Penn has access to select films from the Criterion Collection via Kanopy. The Criterion Collection is a series of classic and contemporary films, including work by renowned world filmmakers. It's possible to browse the collection of over 500 films in Kanopy. This sub-selection of the Criterion Collection appears in the Penn Libraries as the Janus Films Collection.

The Penn Libraries Video Collection also includes a large number of classic and contemporary films from the Criterion Collection on DVD, some of which are located in Van Pelt Library and available by request from the Van Pelt Circulation Desk, and others which are available from LIBRA by request through the Penn Libraries catalog.

The Free Library of Philadelphia offers Kanopy to residents of Philadelphia who are Free Library cardholders. Other county library systems in the Philadelphia area, such as the Montgomery County Public Libraries, Bucks County Free Library, Chester County Library System, and in New Jersey, Camden County Library System and Gloucester County Library System may offer access to streaming films through Kanopy or Hoopla.
