There are two books covering the history of the med school here at Penn.

Corner, George Washington. Two centuries of medicine; a history of the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Available at the Van Pelt Library

Cooper, David Y. Innovation and tradition at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine: an anecdotal journey. Available online through the catalog.

Additionally, the University Archives holds much of the School of Medicine historical documents.

Material covering the history of medicine in Philadelphia can be found in the extensive collection at the College of Physicians Historical Library. It is open to the public by appointment only.
