For Philadelphia residents or visitors, The Free Library of Philadelphia has research guides for genealogists and a description of their extensive newspaper collection online.

You may also want to contact or visit the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

If you're not in the Philadelphia area, please consult your local library for assistance and inquire about the availability of HeritageQuest or Ancestry.com, which provide access to online census records.
