The Libraries have placed small sensors in a few heavily-used spaces to gather data on the frequency and time of occupancy. The data will help address maintenance and housekeeping needs, prioritize improvements, and inform planning for future space design.
The system has been carefully reviewed for privacy and security. It captures no personal information, never connects to any device, and can only passively observe Bluetooth and WIFI signals in a given space for the purpose of approximating the number of occupants at a given time. Occuspace sensors have been tested and deployed at universities across the country and abroad and are fully GDPR and CCPA compliant.
