Exporting Reference Files from Databases

  • PubMed
    • Select the references you want to export.
    • Click “Send to” and choose the destination “Citation Manager”
  • Most Other Database
    • Select the references you want to export.
    • Look for an “Export” or “Share” button. Typically this menu option can be found directly above the search results.
    • Download the file as an EndNote file or as an RIS file if an EndNote specific version is not available.

 

Importing Reference Files into End Note

You can add the references to EndNote in two different ways:

  • Method 1
    • Access your EndNote Library.
    • From the pull-down menu, select “File” -> “Import” ->”File.
    • Click “Choose” to browse for the text file you just downloaded
    • Choose PubMed (NLM) as the ”Import Option.
    • Click “Import”
  • Method 2
    • Click directly  on the downloaded file.
    •  Choose “Open With” End Note if the computer does not open the file automatically
    • You can set your computer to always open these types of files with EndNote
