Question & Answer

Question: Are any computers in the Penn Libraries accessible to the public?
Answer: Public look-up stations are available in the Biomedical Library, the Fine Arts Library, the Engineering Library, and the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. From these stations, the public can access the Library's catalogs and the internet.

The Van Pelt -Dietrich Library Center public look-up stations are located in various areas of the building:

  • computers situated around the Circulation and Periodicals areas, at the building entrance
  • computers situated in elevator lobbies on the east and west side of the building
  • the northern-most bank of computers in the Electronic Look-up Center (opposite the Reference Desk)

Microsoft Word Viewer is available only on the stations in the Electronic Look-up Center. Viewer makes it possible to open and print Word documents, but does not allow for creating or editing.

The Penn Wireless Network is restricted to current Penn students, faculty and staff and requires PennKey authentication.
