There are two books covering the history of the med school here at Penn.

Additionally, the University Archives holds much of the School of Medicine historical documents.

The history of medicine in Philadelphia, for which there is much, can be found in the extensive collection at the College of Physicians Historical Library in Philadelphia. It is open to the public by appointment only.
