Go to S&P Dow Jones Indices
On the landing page, Click on S&P 500 within the Indices box.
Click on the Constituents tab
Then click on the link Full Constituents List to download an Excel file of the components of the index.

For historical constituent lists of the S&P 500 go to WRDS
Choose: Compustat North America
Choose: Index Constituents
Note: Wharton username and password required.

Datastream, located at Lippincott Library, has current constituent lists for a number of stock indices.

Come to Lippincott Library and look at the Security Price Index Record (call number HD 4921 S74b). It contains the S&P 500 companies and the years they appear in the Index.
